On 16-18 February, 2005 the Center for the Study of Democracy, which hosts the Sofia GDLN Center, organized the second annual meeting of the ECA GDLN Centers network.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Oscar de Bruyn Kops, World Bank Country Manager, who stressed that GDLN is about sharing knowledge and increasing the positive impact on the region’s development. During the three-day meeting the participants - management of the GDLN Centers, World Bank staff, partner organizations and the donor community mapped common interests and opportunities for future collaboration.
The Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) consists of over 70 Centers supported by the World Bank. Since 2003 the network in Europe and Central Asia Countries has expanded to fourteen centers, in addition to national networks that are developing in Bosnia, Russia and Ukraine. This expansion has confronted the network with a number of challenges and opportunities, and GDLN would like to further explore and form a common vision and strategy for its future in the ECA region.
The participants were management of the GDLN Centers, World Bank staff, partner organizations and the donor community.
