Ninth Annual Anticorruption Policy Forum
On 23 April 2007 the Center for the Study of Democracy held the Ninth Annual Anticorruption Policy Forum. The Forum is a high profile public event for anti-corruption initiatives, supporting the efforts of civil society and public institutions in the fight against corruption. The eighth consecutive Corruption Assessment Report, entitled “Anti-Corruption Reforms in Bulgaria: Key Results and Risks” was presented and discussed by the participants. The report presents an overview of anti-corruption reforms in Bulgaria in 2006 and 2007. more »
 
Conference: Replacing the Bureaucracy with Transparent, Responsible and Open towards the Citizens Governance
On 27 March 2007 Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB)and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, in cooperation with the Foundation for Local Government Reform held a conference on transparent, responsible and open towards the citizens governance. During the event Mr. Ruslan Stefanov, Coordinator of the Economic Program at the Center for the Study of Democracy presented data on the institutional dissemination of corruption in Bulgaria. more »
 
Round Table: Benchmarking Corruption in the European Union - Bulgarian Experience
On 22 March 2007 the Center for the Study of Democracy in cooperation with the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and the Bulgarian Embassy in Germany organized a round table on Benchmarking Corruption in the European Union. The round table aimed to encourage an EU wide debate on an agreed methodology for benchmarking corruption by taking stock of the experience of Bulgaria’s accession. more »

On 14 February 2007, the Center for the Study of Democracy, together with the Bulgarian Permanent Representation to the European Union hosted a round table on Benchmarking Corruption in the European Union. Keynote speaker at the discussion was Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Roumen Petkov. more »
 
Third National Innovation Forum
On 19 December 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy organized jointly with the Applied Research and Communications Fund the Third National Innovation Forum. The forum discussed the annual Bulgarian innovation performance assessment report Innovation.bg 2007: Bulgaria’s Innovation System in the EU. The report concludes that the Bulgarian national innovation policy and the financial instruments for its implementation in the period 2007 – 2013 will shape the long-term structure and competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy. The report finds lack of coherence and coordination in the government’s innovation policy, which might delay Bulgaria’s transition to higher value-added, high-technology production and leave the country outside the most dynamic global sectors. more »
 
The role of non-state actors and civil society in the global regulatory framework
On 10 - 12 November 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy organized within the GARNET network of excellence a workshop to present the role of non-state actors and civil society in the global regulatory framework. The objective of the workshop was to examine the global public sphere and the global civil society. more »
 
Meeting with representatives of the Chinese Association for International Understanding
On October 31, 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy hosted a meeting with representatives of the Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAIU). The meeting aimed to acquaint the participants with each other’s activities and to discuss opportunities for cooperation and sharing of information and resources. more »

Dr. Konstantin Pashev from CSD's Economic Program participated in international conference, organized by the National association of municipal clerks in Bulgaria (NAMCB). He presented the tax aspects of the fiscal decentralization. more »
 
International Conference: Corruption and Organized Crime: Bridging Criminal and Economic Policies
On 23-24 June 2006 the Center for the Study of Democracy organized an international conference on the complementarity between law enforcement and economic policies against corruption and organized crime. The conference aims at reviewing the range of effective policy instruments and proposing integrated solutions to governments, international institutions and civil society. more »
