Joint meeting at the Ministry of Economy on registration reform
In December 2002 the opportunities for reforming the registration system in Bulgaria were discussed at a joint meeting at the Ministry of Economy with the participation of the Minister of Economy, the Minister of Finance, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, other senior officials from the respective ministries, and representatives of the Center for the Study of Democracy. more »
 
Round table: Draft Law on Forfeiture to the State of Any Property Acquired by Criminal Activity
During a discussion, held on October 1, 2002, Ms. Smith, Senior Trial Attorney at the Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, made a review of the history of asset forfeiture in the United States and its development, and described the rather complex legislation in this area. more »
 
Workshop: Reforming Judiciary in Bulgaria: Towards the Introduction of Modern Registration System
The workshop organized by CSD on September 20, 2002, was attended by representatives of the judiciary and the executive, non-governmental organizations, the business community and media and was aimed at discussing the opportunities for introducing Central Register of Legal Entities and Electronic Registries Center in Bulgaria. more »
 
Round table: Draft Law on the Forfeiture to the State of Any Property Acquired by Criminal Activity
On September 10, 2002 Coalition 2000 and the Center for the Study of Democracy held a round table discussion on the Draft Law on the Forfeiture to the State of Any Property Acquired by Criminal Activity. The draft law was presented by the Minister of Interior Professor Georgi Petkanov. more »
 
Study visit to Norway: Examining the Norwegian Experience in Developing Central Electronic Registers
On August 4-8, 2002, a Bulgarian delegation visited Norway with the purpose to study the Norwegian experience with the development of modern registration systems. During the visit Bulgarian participants had useful meetings with Norwegian experts from Norway Registers Development and the Bronnoysund Register Centre. more »
 
Public discussion on the Draft Law on the Amendments to the Law on the Judiciary

Forthcoming Amendments to the Law on the Judiciary
A Task Force with the Ministry of Justice to draft the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Judiciary was set up in the beginning of last September. Representatives of the executive, legislative and Judiciary, as well as NGOs including the Center for the Study of Democracy were involved in its activities. more »
 
Judicial Reform Initiative Policy Forum
A Policy Forum to endorse the Program for Judicial Reform (PJR) in Bulgaria was held in Sofia on May 18, 2000. It was organized by the CSD Law Program as a Secrtariat of the Judicial Reform Initiative (JRI) with the support of the World Bank and brought together more than 100 representatives of the Government, Judiciary, of international and foreign organizations, NGOs and experts as well. more »
