Training seminar: Customs Control of Shipments of Dual-Use Goods and Technologies in the Western Balkans
A training seminar for border customs officers from the Western Balkans was held on 5-6 October 2005 in Crystal Palace hotel in Sofia. The seminar was organized jointly by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Hungary and the CSD in the framework of the Australian Group, an informal arrangement aiming to minimise the risk of assisting chemical and biological weapons proliferation. more »
 
Videoconference: Corruption and Organized Crime
On 30 September, 2005 the Center for Study of Democracy and the Sofia Distance Learning Center hosted the fifth and final videoconference under the Anti-corruption pilot program titled Corruption and Organized Crime. It was delivered to representatives of public and private sector organizations and NGOs at the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, in Kiev and representatives from public and private sector and donor community in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. more »

The Information Centre on the Council of Europe in Sofia and the Centre for the Study of Democracy hosted on September 27, 2005 a discussion with representatives of the Russian “Club 2015” – a non-government organization of distinguished Russian political scientists and businessmen working for the expansion of the relations between Russia and new Europe. more »

Round Table Counteracting Corruption in the Ministry of Interior
The results from the implementation of the communication strategy for counteracting corruption in the system of the Ministry of Interior, developed on a twinning project between the Ministries of Interior of Bulgaria and the United Kingdom, were presented at a round table at hotel Rila in Sofa on 17 May, 2005. Participants in the discussion were also representatives of nongovernmental organizations, who are members of the so-called Transparency Group on the project. more »
