 International conference: Justice, Financial System, Business
On 26 and 27 November, 2004 the Center for the Study of Democracy co-organized the first of a series of three international conferences on Reforms of the Regulating Institutions in the Context of Transition to Democracy, European Integration and Globalisation. The event was dedicated to the reforms in the judicial system and the banking sector in countries such as Italy, Belgium, France, Brazil, Bulgaria and Hungary, Indonesia and Singapore. Special attention was paid to the influence of foreign legal systems on domestic law formation, in both private and public law. more »

Meeting with the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces of the German Bundestag
The opportunities for establishing an ombudsman for the armed forces in Bulgaria were among the main topics discussed at the meeting of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces of the German Bundestag Dr. Willfried Penner and senior representatives of the Center for the Study of Democracy. The meeting was held on September 28, 2004, at the Commissioner’s Office in Berlin and was part of the newly launched initiative of CSD to examine the opportunities for introducing specialized ombudsman institutions in Bulgaria, such as health services ombudsman, armed forces ombudsman, etc. more »

On September 2-4, 2004 the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation and the University of Tilburg organized in Berlin a colloquium on the issues of cross-border crime.
